We are committed to handling your information in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

We do not knowingly collect special category data (such as health information) unless you choose to share it with us, for example to tell us about accessibility needs. If you do, we will only use it to make appropriate arrangements for your stay.

3. How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

• respond to your enquiries and provide information about the property;
• process and manage your booking, including taking payment and sending confirmations;
• prepare for and look after you during your stay;
• meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including tourism licensing requirements in Mauritius and financial record keeping;
• understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it (only where you have consented to analytics cookies);
• protect our website against misuse and spam.

We will not use your details to send you marketing messages unless you have asked us to, and you can opt out at any time.

4. Our lawful bases for processing

Under UK data protection law, we must have a lawful basis for using your personal information. We rely on:

• Contract – where we need your information to take steps at your request before a booking, or to fulfil a booking you have made.
• Legitimate interests – to respond to general enquiries, run and secure our website, and manage our business, provided this does not override your rights.
• Legal obligation – where we are required by law to keep or share information, such as guest registration and accounting records.
• Consent – for non-essential cookies such as Google Analytics, and for any marketing you have opted in to. You can withdraw consent at any time.

5. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We only share it where necessary with:

• Our property management team in Mauritius – so they can prepare for your arrival, provide keys and look after you during your stay.

• Google – for website analytics (see section 7).
• Authorities – such as the Mauritius Tourism Authority, police or tax authorities, where we are legally required to do so.

All service providers acting on our behalf are only permitted to use your information in line with our instructions and must keep it secure.

6. International transfers

As our property is located in Mauritius, some of your information will be transferred to and used there in order to provide your stay. Some of our service providers, including Google, may also process data outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where information is transferred outside the UK, we take steps to make sure it is protected, such as relying on UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or where the transfer is necessary to perform our contract with you.

7. Cookies and Google Analytics

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site work properly and provide information to the site owner.

Types of cookies we use

• Strictly necessary cookies – required for the website to function, for example to keep the site secure, remember your cookie preferences and prevent spam form submissions. These do not require your consent.
• Analytics cookies – we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use our website, such as which pages are most popular and how long people stay. This helps us improve the site. These cookies are only set if you accept them.

About Google Analytics

Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC. It collects information such as the pages you visit, how long you spend on them, how you arrived at our site, your approximate location (derived from your IP address), and your device and browser type. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses. We use this information in aggregate form only and do not use it to identify you personally.

9. How long we keep your information

We only keep your personal information for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this notice:

• Enquiries that do not lead to a booking – up to [12 months] from our last contact.
• Booking and guest records – up to [6 years] after your stay, to meet accounting, tax and legal requirements.
• Analytics data – retained by Google Analytics for [14 months], after which it is automatically deleted.

10. How we protect your information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to keep your information secure, including an encrypted (HTTPS) website connection, secure hosting, access controls and regular software updates. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• Access – request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• Rectification – ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
• Erasure – ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances;
• Restriction – ask us to limit how we use your information in certain circumstances;
• Objection – object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time;
• Data portability – ask for your information in a portable format in certain circumstances;
• Withdraw consent – where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
